Trace minerals (also known as trace elements or microminerals) are minerals that are present in the human organism in very low concentrations (<50 mg/kg body weight). As "essential elements", they are required by the human body for survival. Essential trace minerals include iron, copper, zinc, iodine, selenium, manganese, chromium, fluoride and molybdenum.
